HK VP9 Fully Captured Stainless Guide Rod Assembly

Add weight to reduce muzzle flip and decrease follow up shot time of your VP9 with our Captured Stainless Steel Guide Rod Assembly. Also allows use of different spring rates to tune the pistol to your needs and handloads. The flat wound springs are made for us by ISMI, a leader in the spring market here in the U.S.A, to our specifications. Made on the same machines that make springs for Formula 1 and IndyCar race cars, made exclusively with aerospace specification alloys. Made from Chrome Silicon Spring Wire, the only choice for a longer lasting, more enjoyable shooting experience verses inferior Music Wire springs. These are polished and assembled with Loctite to your needs. Select spring rate and we'll assemble it as requested.

What is the actual weight (oz) of the captive spring assembly? Any difference in overall weight with 20 vs. 22Lb spring?

It is about 3 times heavier than the stock assembly. The actual rate doesn't affect the weight of assembly notably.

Do you sell just the springs? I purchased the assembly a few years back and would like to change the spring to 20lb as I am getting return-to-battery issues running the parker mountain machine compensator. I am assuming the 20lb spring will help this issue. Also, I was running factory Winchester white box 115gr ammo.

We do offer springs yes, the WWB is not full pressure ammo though and may the source of your issue. 9mm brakes are just mass on the end since 9mm doesn't produce enough pressure to actually work a brake but that added mass will increase the need for pressure to lock and unlock. To order a spring please reach out to lynette@gallowayprecision.com she can get you set up on the springs.

As a follow up to my previous question. Can the springs be changed out by the user. I am trying to get a VP9 with an optic and HK comp to function.

Yes they can be disassembled for service or rate change.

I have a VP9 Tactical OR model that I'm experiencing some FTE and failure to lock the slide back issues when firing. I've read that the factory spring kit is the same for both the VP9 and VP40. Do you know what the spring weight is the factory assembly?

What weight spring assembly do you recommend I buy in this situation to go lighter than factory? 20 or 22lb? This needs to be able to accommodate 115gr practice ammo.

    Thanks,
    Paul

The stock spring is 20lb, I do not offer a lower rate as the striker spring may hold the slide slightly out of battery on some of these with the high spring rate the new ones come with. If your having cycle issues like that with these pistols I'm guessing it is related to low pressure bulk practice ammo being used. Higher pressure or standard pressure ammo should fix the cycle issue.
