What will be the gain in installing the complete spring kit as opposed to only this one spring?

Better trigger pull action when both springs installed.

This works on a ruger sr40c

No it only works on the kahr pistols in the listing. The Ruger is not the same or listed. If you want ruger parts please look under the Ruger parts then the model family you have.

Will this work in a kahr p45 or pm 45?

We have a stock spring from them at the spring maker now for testing to see if our standard striker will work for them but until then I will have to say no.

Do you have to replace the stock spring when replacing the striker guide or is that only for reduced trigger pressure?

The striker guide will work with the stock spring, we do offer a spring kit separate for reduced pull rate also that will work with it as well.

Would you recommend this for a defensive weapon?
    Thanks

The spring is meant to help reduce trigger pull rate to make the weapon more usable. This would help with sights staying on target and follow up shots being faster and more accurate. It will work well with quality ammo like defensive ammo but may have the same issues the pistol will have with low grade bulk hard primer bulk ammo.

Reduces trigger pull at the break point just enough to be more comfortable but not so much that it would be able to be engaged unintentionally. I'd recommend it. Installation not as easy as the video showing a gunsmith doing it, but after finding the spring and guide a couple of times post-launch, I got it figured out. If you are changing out the spring, you might as well swap out the plastic striker guide for their stainless steel one at the same time.
