I'm following the directions to get the screw off the guide rod to get the spring off, but it isn't working. the screw is standard, "lefty loosey" right? Do you know what size the screw is? I'm looking to get a socket onto it as well, because even with a set of locking pliers on it the whole unit turns when I try to turn the retaining screw. thanks.
Aug 20, 2024, 07:32Did you heat the rod behind the screw with the spring compressed back clear of the heat source? A small bic type lighter works well for that. A pair of vise grips to hold the spring back will also hold the rod to turn the screw out. There are 2 different screw head sizes we have had reports of. Both can be removed with a normal 1/4 drive socket set range.

I ordered the +10% rate recoil spring for the CSX . What is the best way to install the new spring on the spring rod?
Dec 27, 2023, 10:32With the rod out compress the spring back down toward the bottom of the rod, lock it down with locking pliers. Then use a small lighter like a bic to put heat behind the retainer screw for about 30 seconds. Turn the screw out clean the threads. Carefully release the pliers and spring. Apply fresh blue loctite to the screw, compress the new spring down, lock it with the pliers and screw in the screw till snug and let the loctite set.

So the +10% spring rate , would help more with handling the recoil?
Dec 26, 2023, 12:56Yes that will be for more recoil control with standard or high pressure ammo.
