Scutum Short Stroke Trigger for Smith & Wesson M&P 380 Shield EZ Pistols

Introducing our newest addition to our line of triggers, the Galloway Precision Scutum Flat Face Trigger for the Shield EZ pistol. The scutum was a type of shield used among Italic peoples in antiquity, and then by the army of ancient Rome starting about the fourth century BC. The Romans adopted it when they switched from the military formation of the hoplite phalanx of the Greeks to the formation with maniples.

In that same fighting spirit we designed the Scutum trigger for the Shield EZ with ultimate performance in mind for this self defense pistol. Built in pre travel stop and adjustable post travel stops remove 20% of the trigger travel from the EZ (depending on the tolerances of your particular pistol), and the flat face gives a more comfortable platform for the trigger finger. With the slight change to swing geometry as well as the pre and post travel stops, this is the ultimate trigger for the M&P Shield EZ. Become one with your gun and get yours today!

Made from Carbon Fiber reinforced Nylon that's one and a half times stronger than aluminum.

Fits Smith & Wesson M&P 380 Shield EZ Pistol only.

Installation requires an .050 Allen Wrench. We have added an option above to purchase the Allen Wrench for just a $1.50. Please select "Yes, add an .050 Allen Wrench" if you would like to add this to your purchase.

We strive to make all parts we manufacture to be drop in, although there is the rare occasion where a part will HAVE to be fitted to the tolerances of your particular pistol. We cannot control the tolerances of mass produced firearms, therefore we highly suggest that if you run into a tolerance issue to contact us at tech@gallowayprecision.com before taking it to a qualified armorer to fit the part. We also offer installation of all triggers, trigger kits, and parts that we make for a nominal fee.

The picture of your Scutum Short Stroke Trigger for Smith & Wesson M&P 380 Shield EZ Pistols as well as your installation video shows only one allen adjustment screw in the trigger assembly. The one I received has two adjustment screws and there was no instructions for the additional screw. So what exactly do the two screws do and how are they adjusted?

The top screw is the pre travel limit. Turn it out till the trigger does not reset then turn it in 1/4 rev. The lower screw is the post travel limit. Turn it out till the trigger does not break, then turn it back out 1/4 rev.

Will this work with the shield EZ 30 super carry?

Not one we have tested yet. Customers are reporting the 9mm trigger we offer fits and functions but we have not tried it in house yet.

Will this work in the performance center model? If so, will this trigger reduce the factory travel and how much difference?

Yes the action is the same as regular one. The reduction in pull/reset depends on the fire control stack out on the tolerance. It will be shorter than stock regardless due to the adjustable limits that allow the excess pre and post travel to be dialed out.

Does this work with the 380 ez 2.0?

It will be in black since that is the only color the material we use comes in. Sorry Ford basics only, any color you want as long as it is black.

With some adjustments, due to my initial finger placement, the Galloway Precision flat trigger is working great in my EZ

The installation was a bit of a challenge because the internals were a new design for me.

The install video is very useful for determining the tools required and techniques necessary to install the trigger and get the internals set up for the re-installation of the fire control group.

I suggest watching the video several times before doing the install and take note of the problems the gunsmith points out during his install of the trigger and re-installation of the internal fire control group.

The adjustment I made was to round off the left side of the trigger where my finger wrapped around it.

As it turned out, that was unnecessary because when I mounted my MantisX trigger training device to the EZ Picatinny rail and adjusting my finger position on the trigger, right, closer to the finger joint till my MantisX "scores" went up eliminated my problem.

The problem was not having my finger flat all the way across the trigger causing the finger to wrap over the left side.

Now, my MantisX scores are in the mid 90's.

If you like a flat trigger, like I do, the Galloway Precision EZ flat trigger is definitely worth considering.

As to installing it yourself or have a gunsmith do it, watch the installation video and see if you are comfortable with what the gunsmith had to do vs your capabilities.

I've shot about 900 rounds in the EZ since I installed the GP flat trigger without issue, other than learning how to position my finger.

FWIW, I have the model with the external safety lever on the side because it allows me to test my reloads cycling with the safety engaged.

And in closing, the EZ seems to prefer defense level ammunition loads (I shoot plates with it) in lieu of target level but who cares, it's a .380 acp.

    With regard,

    Matt Devitt

    Update 08-11-20:

I just shot a 5 shot, dry fire score of 95.1 using the Mantis X trigger training device on the EZ with your trigger!

That is an excellent score for any handgun for this old boy.
