Recoil Spring Assembly for M&P Full Size Pistols
Add weight to reduce muzzle flip and decrease follow up shot time of your M&P 9/40 Full Size with our Assembled Stainless Steel Guide Rod. Also allows use of different spring rates to tune the pistol to your needs and handloads. The flat wound springs are made for us by ISMI, a leader in the spring market here in the U.S.A, to our specifications. Made on the same machines that make springs for Formula 1 and IndyCar race cars, made exclusively with aerospace specification alloys, these springs are made to last and provide a more enjoyable shooting experience. These are polished and assembled with Loctite to your needs. Pick spring rate and retainer screw color (polished stainless or blacked tool steel) and we'll assemble it as requested.
We offer fully assembled units captured like factory in 15lb, 18lb, 20lb, and 22lb.
The full size pistols both now ship with 18lb, we recommend the 20lb for the 9mm and 22lb for the 40 models, the 15lb spring is for light hand loads only.
Available with a Stainless or Black Retainer.

Any chance you will offer more reduced power springs for the M&P 9mm. I recently purchased a Banish K suppressor and it will not cycle properly. SC says a reduced power spring should help.
Oct 21, 2025, 07:37Going lower than 15lbs isn't an option with these without making the striker spring lighter, otherwise it will hold the slide out of battery. Sorry no plans at this time.

Will this fit a m&p 9c?
Oct 20, 2025, 09:56No, it is only for the model listed, it will not fit any other models. The 9c is not one we currently we offer a rod for. We do have plans for one soon.

Will this fit a M&P 9mm compact?
Oct 17, 2025, 08:59No, it is for the full size as noted. If you have the 4 inch barrel you will need the 4 inch barrel compact model we offer. I'll link it below. If you have the sub compact with the 3.6 inch barrel we do not offer a rod for it yet but it is coming soon.

How long does the spring last (rounds)
Jul 21, 2025, 07:47Depends on live cycles, passive cycles, environment etc. We PM LEO weapons and change the yearly regardless of cycles. I would say every 10-15k on these would be ideal.

LngSrcJun 24, 2025, 15:03I have a police trade-in M&P40 2.0 as well as a 357 Sig conversion barrel. These tend to come stock with springs intended for 9mm, so a 22lb. spring is a no-brainer. In my mind it's not even an upgrade, it's just setting the gun up correctly.
It runs flawlessly in both calibers, with hot Underwood "bear loads" (heavy hardcast) and with regular FMJ range ammo. Don't even question yourself, get the 22lb for 40 and/or 357. It makes for a smoother recoil impulse, and reduces wear on the gun. -
JPGurgsJun 6, 2023, 18:28I'm currently running your Assembled Guide Rod for S&W M&P 9 and 40 4.25" Full Size Pistols, SKU: GP-760-20-SS, in my S&W M&P 9 ProSeries CORE M2.0 5" long slide pistol. It fits and functions flawlessly. I purchased this item from you back on 05June2022, invoice #218863.
Both my M&P 9 M2.0 4.25" Full Size and M&P 9 ProSeries CORE M2.0 5" long slide pistols use this same exact 3.2345" long recoil spring assembly (RSA).
Thank you! -
Matt WJun 12, 2020, 13:35I highly recommend this product and Galloway Precision. I ordered my recoil spring on a Sunday afternoon and within 2-3 hours I got a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number. My spring arrived that Thursday (2 days before the estimated arrival date) and it fit & functioned perfectly in my firearm.
