If the stock spring is 17#, which would be your recommendation for a stiffer spring. 10 mm 4.6 barrel. What is the outcome of using the 22 and 24# springs as well..
.new to 10mm...thanks in advance.Dec 20, 2024, 08:39I only recommend the 24lb for the 10mm, it has enough pressure to run that rate and it will help with control/muzzle rise etc.

Can I purchase the 24lb spring by itself? Previously purchased the full guide rod with 22lb and want to go heavier
Oct 11, 2024, 07:39Sure, please email lynette@gallowayprecision.com to get that setup for you.

Just wanted to say that I used this 24# spring in my MP 2.0 PC 10mm with a 5.6 ported barrel. It fits and works perfectly. And very good quality!
Jun 24, 2024, 09:25Thanks, glad you like it!

This 24lbs spring works perfectly in the M/P 2.0 PC 10MM 5.6IN BARREL
Jun 3, 2024, 07:59Glad to hear it, that is the most popular for the 10mm and the rate we recommend for the 10mm for best results.

For the PC 5.6 inch should the 22 lb spring be used because the slide is heavier or is the 24 lb spring still the play? I want to shoot 180 target ammo all the way up to the heaviest factory bear loads.
Thanks for the help,
KevinFeb 16, 2024, 10:25We have not had a 5.6 inch in to measure and test so we do not list or offer the rod assembly for the 10mm at this time.

Jose VargasApr 29, 2024, 16:24I purchased the SW MP 2.0 4.6 in 10 mm and when I first took the gun out to range I experienced an excessive amount of failures to feed . I was disappointed and so u took it back to the place where I purchased. It was sent back To SW in which they polished the barrel and feed ramp. I went ahead and purchased the Galloway recoil spring in a 24 lb while my firearm was being serviced. Upon receiving it , I swapped out the OEM spring without even trying it .
Needless to say I ran 5 different ammo types through it with the Galloway unit without a hiccup . The peeps at Galloway were very helpful and they were right. I am now a proud owner of a wonderful firearm. Original mag springs in place. -
JPGurgsJun 15, 2023, 02:49Just this past weekend, I tried out this RSA, in the 22-pound (22#) SS version, in my S&W M&P 10mm M2.0 4.6" pistol. This Galloway Precision RSA measures 3.55" in length, the same as my pistol's stock RSA. I shot the following 235 rounds of 10mm Auto ammunition:
- 100 rounds of CCI Blazer Brass 180 Gr FMJ (advertised at 1200 FPS MV, 575 FtLbs ME) Soft shooting.
- 50 rounds of Steinnel Ammo 180 Gr FMJ (1140 FPS MV, 519 FtLbs ME advertised) Very soft shooting.
- 20 rounds of Underwood Ammo 155 Gr Hornady XTP JHP (1500 FPS MV, 774 FtLbs ME advertised)
- 20 x Underwood 165 Gr Speer Gold Dot Bonded JHP (1400 FPS MV, 718 FtLbs ME advertised)
- 15 x Underwood 180 Gr Nosler JHP (1250 FPS MV, 624 FtLbs ME advertised)
- 15 x Underwood 180 Gr Hornady XTP JHP (1300 FPS MV, 675 FtLbs ME advertised)
- 15 x Underwood 200 Gr FN HCL (1250 FPS MV, 694 FtLbs ME advertised)
Fit and functionality were flawless in my 10mm 4.6" pistol. Felt recoil was nicely dampened, resulting in reduced muzzle rise, allowing me to get back on target more quickly, and reducing the wear & tear on my polymer framed pistol. All rounds, weak and potent alike, cycled perfectly. My spent cases flew from between about 8' for the weakest loads, up to about 20' for the most potent loads.
That being said, I want to try out Galloway's 24# ISMI recoil spring on this guide rod. To this end, I've ordered a 24# ISMI flat wound recoil spring for my RSA from Galloway, which I will swap out with my current captured 22# recoil spring.
Good things! 👍
EDIT / UPDATE:
On Tuesday, 20June2023, I tried out the new Galloway Precision 24-pound ISMI recoil spring ($15 w/ S&H) captured onto my Galloway Precision 3.55" guide rod. Fit and function were flawless. I'd say it performed very similarly to my Wolff Gunsprings solid stainless steel guide rod and 24-pound uncaptured recoil spring, but with the added benefit of being a fully captured assembly. Recoil dampening was noticably somewhat greater than my 22# recoil spring, previously addressed above.
I fired an additional 200 rounds of the following 10mm Auto ammo:
• 20 x Underwood 155 Gr Hornady XTP JHP (1500 FPS MV, 774 FtLbs ME)
• 20 x Underwood 180 Gr Nosler JHP (1250 FPS MV, 624 FtLbs ME)
•• 50 x Steinel Ammo 180 Gr FMJ (1140 FPS MV, 519 FtLbs ME) Very, very soft shooting, felt similar to 147 Gr +P 9mm Luger ammo. Based upon how this particular load was so softly lobbing out my spent cases, I suspect 10mm Auto ammo weaker than this may not cycle properly with this 24# recoil spring.
• 50 x Underwood 180 Gr Range Supply FMJ (1250 FPS MV, 624 FtLbs ME)
• 20 x Underwood 200 Gr Hornady XTP JHP (1250 FPS MV, 694 FtLbs ME)
• 20 x Underwood 200 Gr FN HCL (1250 FPS MV, 694 FtLbs ME)
• 20 x Underwood 220 Gr FN HCL (1200 FPS MV, 703 FtLbs ME)
IMHO, Galloway has done a great job here, and Lynette's responsiveness in C.S. was top tier. Quick delivery, too. I placed my order on Wednesday evening, June 14th, and had my 24# ISMI recoil spring on Saturday afternoon, June 17th.
Thus far, IMHO, the only way Galloway Precision can improve upon this product is to make it available in a heavy tungsten RSA. PLEASE DO!
Thank you.
Good things! 👍
