Flat Wound Recoil Spring
Just need the spring? We got you covered.
Recoil springs available for the Security 9® in 15lb, 17lb, 20lb, and 22lb. These flat wound springs are made for us by ISMI, a leader in the spring market here in the U.S.A, to our specifications. Made on the same machines that make springs for Formula 1 and IndyCar race cars, made exclusively with aerospace specification alloys. Made from Chrome Silicon Spring Wire, the only choice for a longer lasting, more enjoyable shooting experience verses inferior Music Wire springs.
Must be used with our stainless steel guide rods, as the stock rod does not come apart.
The stock spring rate is 17lb, we recommend the 20lb for this 9mm, the 15lb is for light hand loads only.
Fits Ruger® Security 9® Pistols
As always, proudly made right here in the USA.

New gun owner here. Can you please explain “light hand load” and why you recommend that for the 15lb spring? Thanks
May 22, 2024, 13:02No problem, think of a light load as a standard bullet weight in a cartridge but with less powder so it is as fast due to the lower pressure built during the bullet heading out. These are typically hand loads but some low grade bulk practice ammo will behave that way.

Will it fit my compact security 9
Mar 31, 2021, 09:37No just the full size model listed. The compact will not take a stronger spring due to the limit space for the assembly.

I am expecting your competition pack any day now. I carry Browning 147gr BXP hollow points. What spring rate would you recommend?
Feb 26, 2021, 10:26I would start at 20 and check function with the ammo. If the pressure is as advertised it should be fine but making sure is critical that it cycles normally. If not step down in rate. If it goes right along but is still snappy step up one more rate and test.

Why do you folks recommend a 20 lb recoil spring for the Ruger Security 9 full size pistol. I expect delivery of one of your stainless guide rods with 20 lb spring setup directed towards solving occasional misfeeds i.e. the case rim not climbing all the way up the breach face under the extractor.
Both breach face and feed ramp have been polished.
Thanks, DonAug 11, 2020, 09:56As long as you're running good ammo it's the best rate for 115gr to 135gr for reduction in felt recoil and muzzle rise.
