GEN 2 BOMBPROOF SR9c® and SR40c® Assembled Guide Rods

***These are our BOMB PROOF thick head guide rods, we have tripled the head thickness to prevent the scaring and rare bending on the locking lug side seen on some of the 40 S/W guns, but these will work on the 9mm model as well. Made of non magnetic Stainless Steel or Blacked Billet Steel, they are drop in and you can disassemble them to change spring rates if need be or desired.

We offer fully assembled units captured like factory in 14lb, 16lb, 18lb, and 20lb.

The recoil springs are made for us by ISMI, a leader in the spring market here in the U.S.A, to our specifications. Made on the same machines that make springs for Formula 1 and IndyCar race cars, made exclusively with aerospace specification alloys. Made from Chrome Silicon Spring Wire, the only choice for a longer lasting, more pleasurable shooting experience verses inferior Music Wire springs.

Stock spring rate is 16lb or pick 14lb, 18lb, or 20lb as an option to help control felt recoil or dial in for hand loads. We recommend the 14lb only for light handloads, 18lb is the high in for 9mm and 20lb for the 40.

Available with Stainless Steel or Black retainer.

Fits Ruger® SR9c® and SR40c® Pistols

My SR40c fires fine but the slide locks with each shot. I have field stripped and cleaned the gun multiple times and no change. I've also changed magazines and cartridges (different bullet weight, different manufacture). Will a heavier guide rod and spring correct my problem? If so, what weight spring?

Does it do this if you hand the weapon off to other operators? If so I would check the slide lock spring is still in place or if it is damaged. It is easy to install it incorrectly if you have had it apart, if it is set wrong it will lock the slide on each shot.

Trying to understand if going to 20lbs is an upgrade or a downgrade for my sr9c.

As noted stock is 16lbs so going up will help with recoil control with higher pressure loads, sub sonic and low pressure loads will have cycle issues with the higher spring rate.

I have the sr40c ,which guide rod do you recommend? Thanks

I would go with a 20lb unit for the 40 cal model. It has more pressure and recoil as a result so the 20 will be a nice upgrade for better control.

Sorry for not being clear with my previous question. What I want to know is the Recoil Spring Set for the SR9c part of the Assembled Stainless Steel Guide Rod for the SR9c?

The assembled rods come assembled with whatever rate you pick, ready to go drop in.

I have an SR9C. I'm just looking to upgrade my plastic OEM to the stainless because I like metal parts. I'm just planning to continue shooting standard 115 and 124 grain rounds. Which spring weight would you recommend for best performance - 16 lbs? 18 lbs? Also, would there be any performance benefits with standard 115/124 to going up by 2 lbs? Thanks!

115 bulk tends to be low pressure, 124 tends to be full pressure. I would say use the 18 for the 9mm rounds but low pressure bulk may have issues with fully cycling with the higher rate. 16 should run everything but not offer the recoil control of the higher rate.

What a great product! Shipping was super fast and the guide rod dropped in as easy as the stock one. I like the added tension and durability. Can't wait to hit the range next week and see what improvements it will add as well!!
